Futuristic New Car Features: There's a New Way to Drive!

April 20,2017

It’s undeniable that technology is taking more and more place in the automotive industry. A few decades ago, it would’ve been pure science fiction to imagine such progress. Remember that supercar from Back to the Future? Well we’re not there yet but each year seems to bring its lot of innovation!

After exploring car technologies inside the car we’re still gathering some of the coolest features taking the auto market by storm and this article is dedicated to the little things that will make your driving experience ever more dynamic and interactive! Fasten your seatbelts, you’re in for a fun ride!

1. How about automatic parallel and perpendicular parking systems?

If you live in a big city or in urban areas, finding parking space gets quite frustrating. Plus we all know the hassle of parallel parking. However, every company from Toyota to Lexus to Ford and Volvo include parking assists This feature helps you find a space and perform a near perfect parallel park maneuver without screwing up anyone’s bumper. This year, car maker Bosch is even gearing up to allow drivers to get out of a car and have vehicles park themselves with the help of an app. Look Mama, no hands!

2. Cameras will allow you to see your entire surrounding

Companies like Ford and Infiniti have implemented cameras that enable drivers to see everything surrounding their car while driving. These futuristic cameras also come with sensors that will prevent you from hitting something.

3. Your car will never deviate from the center of the lain again

There’s a new feature in town and it’s called “lane centering”. It uses onboard cameras and the brakes to gently push your car into the center of a lane. New versions of the Ford FusionToyota Prius, and Lincoln MKZ have adopted this feature and it’s doubly cool since we should all avoid getting too close to that yellow line and avoiding honks is always a good option!

4. Your sensors will mug up your driving style

Car companies like BMW and Mercedes-Benz have developed sensors and systems that learn how you drive and alert you to pull over and take a rest when you start swaying or being careless. Why is this oh so useful? Because your car will be able to know if you’re too tired to drive, which will help you avoid getting into serious accidents.

5. Car systems will automatically brake before potential accidents

Safety has always been the main focus for all carmakers with each new technology that comes out. The 2015 Honda Accord and the 2015 Subaru Outback automatically vibrate your seat or steering wheel when you’re about to hit something from the front, and if that's not enough, the car will automatically brake to stop a collision.

6. You will save gas with automatic stop/start engines

The 2015 Chevy Malibu automatically stops if your foot is on the brake pedal during a jam, and restarts the car when your foot is off, saving your gas and lending the environment a helping hand.

Haven’t we all lived this dreadful moment when we’re stuck in traffic, wasting fuel and desperately trying to remember where is the nearest gas station? Well those days will soon be gone!

We don’t know about you but this has got us quite excited! Do you happen to own any of the technologies mentioned above or used any of them? Know any additional car-techs coming up share them with us!
