Karrenn Answers Your Questions On The New Picanto

June 15,2017

Kia open their doors on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of June to reveal the all-new 2018 Picanto.

Being the car it is, the Picanto generates lots of interest amongst us Lebanese. It is one of the best selling cars in Lebanon for the last few years, because it is very affordable and reliable, and does well especially in terms of fuel economy. It seems that this proposition matches what the Lebanese market wants. Now that the new Picanto is revealed, Karrenn has answered the most common questions about the new generation of this car.

Is the turbo version available in Lebanon?

No. It is currently not available, and we doubt that it will be available in the long term. The current Picanto retains the same 1.25L engine generating 84 HP.

The Picanto now has a bigger air filter, the company claims that this will reduce engine noise going into the cabin.

They also said that the steel is now 44% stronger, which implies an improvement in safety and a tougher build. It was also mentioned that the car is now lighter which should improve fuel economy and acceleration.

What we personally felt from opening and shutting the doors and trunk is that the build quality feels more solid now.

The dashboard is completely changed and feels more refined.

The interior, especially the trunk, is now more spacious.

Price and Options Speculation:

We've heard that many of you are interested in the price, with a few speculating that it will cost $15,900. We currently do not have the registration costs, but we will approximate the all inclusive price based on the fact that VAT adds 10%, and on average, registration is also around 10% of the initial price. Based on that, these are the ranges of prices you can expect:

LX Trim which is the lowest trim: Approximated Price: $11,400 to $12,960 ($11,400 being the manual and $12,960 being the automatic with the highest features). This trim now comes with body colored bumpers, but doesn't have ABS and airbags as standard.

EX Trim which is the mid-range tirm: Approximated Price: $13,900 to $14,200. ABS and airbags are optional.

GT Line: Approximated Price $15,500. ABS and airbags are standard. The interior layout is beautiful, with high quality seats and stitching all around including door panels and the steering wheel.

What will be common across the range?

Some nice upgrades are now available regardless of which trim you go for, they are available on any Picanto:
